Nouvelle Cuisine / New Kitchen

This is the view from our living room window the night we moved. Considering the fact that in the old apartment all I could see was the building across the street when I looked outside, I was thrilled and stunned by so much sky out there putting on a show for me. The move went well. Those beautiful fig walls are now stacked with boxes...

Cartons de livres / Boxes of books

Of course the most important change that came with this move was the new kitchen! D. and I created the kitchen out of a closet and part of the old, damaged kitchen. D's dad drew it up for us and we picked out everything from the color of the counter to the tiles on the floor. Before, I did all my baking in this tiny oven and kept all my food in this tiny fridge. This photo was taken as far away from the two as you could get in the tiny kitchen.

And NOW, I get to work in this awesome space! How exciting is that! With a real fridge and four induction heat burners (instead of two little electric hot plates) and an oven! Not bad for an apartment kitchen. My least favorite feature? That horrible (hopefully temporary) orange dish drain. My favorite feature? These super hanging glass containers:

Your new kitchen looks wonderful. Love the vent over the "stove". You'll be lost in all that space. Ha, ha! Enjoy.

I see you have a bit of unpacking yet to do. Not quite as hard as packing.

Not a bad view either, for having to live in the city!

So exciting! I wish I had hanging glass containers like that, those are so cool. I hope you have time to do some cooking soon.

Also, I like your glamorous new picture. You look like a movie star. Is that your head shot?

B'jour Hopie,

Anyway, I wanted to say that I LIKE "that horrible orange dish drain". (Yes, Hopie, I read the French AND English parts of your blog. Hum.)

Cicero Sings - thank you :-) Yep, there's still plenty of unpacking to do (especially since one of the rooms and the bathroom aren't painted yet so all our stuff is accumulated in the rooms that are ready)! But it's fun to unpack in a new place if you're happy to be there.

Amy - I know, I thought you would like those containers! Thanks - I finally got my new headshots so I decided to put one on my blog to show it off ;-) I'm very happy with them.

Marie-Catherine - Bonjour (euh, soir?).

D.K. - Darn it! The French AND the English parts? That's no fair. I can't get away with anything!

Rosa - Thanks! The view is wonderful to have in the city.

Tony - Well, I'll certainly try. I hope sometime in the not too distant future you can come over and see the view for yourself!

Oh - that is a great kitchen! Definitely a big step up from what you had before. I just have an apartment-sized galley kitchen.

Psychgrad - oh I know how that is. Looks like you manage to make some yummy things in your little kitchen though! I have to say, it's a big relief to have a bit more space to move around in.
